As a college student, we have to face a lot of campus activities and numerous homework and also homework’s deadlines. So, a good time-management skill is really useful and crucial for us to survive in our university: we should avoid us being procrastinators. Now, let me share some of my own experience and point of view.
The most effective way to avoid procrastination is that we should make a daily schedule, such as, when should we get up? When should we leave our dormitory for class? Shall we study at 7 to 10 pm every Monday to Thursday and play dota at every Friday night? After we made this schedule, we have to print it out and paste it in front of our desk to remind us to follow the schedule. Then, we can by a calendar to put on our desk. This calendar is used for reminding us about our deadlines of homework and our time for appointments. Once we know the schedule of our homework deadline or our appointment, we just write them on the calendar and follow it. The advantage to write things down is it can be a better reminder to us about our plans because we can see the reminders as soon as we sitting in front of our desk.
Second, we should bring up good habits for our time-managements. We should put our assignments and homework in the first priority. Do not finish our homework just before the deadline. We should finish our homework as soon as we can, maybe we can finish our homework assignment several days, say 3days, before the deadline. No wonder that we can enjoy these 3 days doing whatever we want without worrying about our homework. On the other hand, if we put all our assignments at the deadline day, we have no choice to study continuously, of course with a low efficiency, for many hours, otherwise we will grade zero on out assignments. As a result, we should control our life by ourselves, not be controlled by the assignment deadlines.
Also, we have to boycott the seductions such as video games, fraternity parties, during our working time in our schedule. What I mean is, we should follow our schedule. For example, if I originally plan to finish my Calculus assignments, which dues on Sunday, from 7 to 9 am at Thursday night, but my best friend John, ask me to play DotA with him at 8. Though I really want to play dota with him, I still have to finish my homework. See, after I finished the homework, I have numerous hours to play dota. On the other hand, if I cannot boycott the seduction from John, I may spent my whole Thursday on playing dota with John, certainly, I may play basketball with Tony at Friday night and go to Frat Party with Cindy at Saturday. When I realize that I still have a maths homework undone, it is Sunday night already!
To conclude, writing down our schedules, buying calendar as reminders and protesting different kinds of seductions can help us avoid procrastination. Remember, we are the host of our live. We control our lives by ourselves, rather than our actions are controlled by time, if we avoid being procrastinators.

Yeah, you're right, but it's really hard to keep things done on time or earlier in school life. As a graduate student, I myself always say to my self "don't procrastinate", but it doesn't work well at times. The problem is there is too much temptation around us to avoid. :D
